Jarrod Smith
Team ONIX pro pickleball player Jarrod Smith was named the Head Pickleball Coach at Drury University in November 2023. This was the first pickleball program to be an officially recognized sport at a university and the first to offer the combination of a full-time coaching staff, operational budgets, and scholarship opportunities.
At the time of his designation as the head coach at Drury, Smith played pickleball for almost a decade, playing professional tournaments for many of those years. Highlights of his career have been a Men’s Doubles National Title and a Mixed Doubles National Title, both in 2021.
He also spent many years traveling and instructing pickleball in many areas of the country. Jarrod Smith is from Springfield, Missouri, and he has a passion and dedication for the sport that has made him always love to play pickleball.
“The reason I began playing pickleball and the reason I still enjoy my time on the court is because the people in this sport are the absolute best,” says Smith.
He added that he also loves playing pickleball because there are always players ready to share the court, and he loves their joy and smiles when competing. Jarrod plays with the 12mm Evoke Premier Raw Carbon Pickleball Paddle.
He explained that he loves the pop that the Raw Carbon paddle adds to his game and the unbelievable amount of spin that he generates off of it. The Raw Carbon pickleball paddle's carbon fiber surface texture increases traction on the pickleball for maximum spin and control without sacrificing pop and power.
